Hi all

I'm thinking of a little trip tomorrow, up to Carlisle for around midday and onto Blackpool around 4/5pm.

I was thinking of using the following tickets:
Chapel en le Frith to Blackpool - Off Peak Return - £16.85 with YP Railcard
Preston to Carlisle - Off Peak Day Return - £14.40 with a YP Railcard

If I used the CEF to BPN ticket as far as Preston, went to buy a PRE to CAR return and went onwards to Carlisle, back down to Preston and onwards to Blackpool, would it break the BoJ restriction - 8A which exists on the CEF to BPN leg which forbids BoJ?

Thanks

Tom

You raise an interesting question as to the meaning of break of journey, i.e. is your Preston-Carlisle-Preston diversion a break in your Chapel-Blackpool journey even if you don't walk out of Preston and Carlisle stations.

But the question could be avoided if for Chapel to Blackpool you bought a £16.05 offpeak day return (discounted railcard fare). That has validity code I5, i.e. no travel before 0830 but no restrictions on break of journey. That would be valid on the 0838 from Chapel which gets you to Piccadilly at 0926 in time for the 0946 which gets into Preston at 1033, in turn in time for the 1041 or 1056 to Carlisle (which arrive at 1146 or 1200).
