Bridge Strike between Horsham and Christ's Hopital today. LSWR blocked at Guildford to Petersfield for improvements. Get a bus. Wloo shut for improvements. Poor info at Havant. No announcement to get a stopper to Worthing and catch a littlehampton to London. Worked out journey on phone or would have waited for hour in cold. Waiting room shut for redecoration. Still getting there as the advert said!

I was caught up in this - 1J27 which seemed to be the second train to head north into the affected area, ultimately getting turned at Pulborough. Doubled back to Barnham on OBS/driver advice when I could have bailed at Ford and then either gone into Littlehampton (2B23/1H33) or indeed the first diversion via Hove (1B31). Most annoying bit was winding up at East Croydon "only" 1:50 late - just missing out on the full refund!
Not ideal that the first stopper towards Brighton after we made it to Barnham was cancelled due to lack of traincrew (an announcement I was also hearing a fair bit first thing this morning at East Croydon!) but they turned a unit headed for Bognor to form a London service for us at Barnham so a good compromise as far as I'm concerned! Can't really fault the staff on the ground, and a reasonable recovery effort by control from my perspective
Does seem to have been "one of those days" for the network, especially with that strike near Bromley as well. I did also like NR K&S's post showing that the bridge in Christ's Hospital had been whacked before!
