Hello - i cannot track down a reliable source for the current capacity of the Channel Tunnel in paths per hour, per direction.
In 1997, it appeared that the theoretical limit was 20 per hour, but only 12 was authorised.
Have signalling improvements since then raised it up to the suggested potential 24 and 30 tph or was this just wishful thinking?
Aware of the complexities of timetabling / platooning, whereby actual capacity is affected by the differing speeds between the freights and the eurostars.
Any assistance gratefully received.
Thanks,

A Eurostar train appears to count for 1.85 train paths.
(Competition Commission. 1997. The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company and Stena Line AB: A report on the proposed merger)
Therefore, if there are 10 train paths available for passenger services / hr: 4 Eurostars (7.4 paths - as in pk summer season) would only leave room for 1 additional passenger train.
this correct?
