Changing trains question

Coming from Chester, changing at Crewe.

Do I have to change at Shrewsbury for the heart of wales, would it be an issue if i changed at Craven Arms?

I have to change at crewe if I want Craven Arms.

I get the same fare via Shrewsbury as Crewe. So I'd imagine it'd be fine .

I had a quick look and I don't see why not ....

Station: Chester -> Station: Knighton
Routes where no fares check applies as the route is valid for all combinations

[Routeing Point: Crewe]


CH allows Chester to Crewe, then BD allows Crewe-Shrewsbury-Craven Arms-Hereford-Newport

You can change trains at any station you like if you're on a valid route as far as I know....

Chester to Knighton CDR: 17.30

Chester to Craven Arms CDR: 17.30 - so not good for a split

Chester to Shrewsbury 8.20 CDR + Shrewsbury to Knighton 7.60 SDR, gives 15.80

You can change at either; it makes no difference as long as the train you are on does stop at Craven Arms!
