I'm arriving at Platform 2 at Stevenage and have only 4 minutes to cross to Platform 4.

My arrival is on a 9-coach LNER Azuma from York. Which would be the best coach to ensure I exit near the stairs for the crossover bridge, please? 81 years old, with only a backpack.

TIA

The bridge is near the middle but it depends on whether you can use the stairs or need the lift. The lift is nearer the London end than the bottom of the stairs.

If doing this in the evening peak bear in mind that the stairs down to platform 4 could be obstructed by large numbers of alighting passengers coming the other way.

I haven’t done it with an Azuma but on the 225s it was the doors between coaches D and E that were by the bottom of the steps. The lifts are further forward which are another option.
If you are getting the xx:08 Cambridge stopper from platform 4 they are often a couple of minutes late at Stevenage.

I made the connection last week with a suitcase from first class towards the front of platform 2 and up via the lifts to platform 4 in a couple of minutes. The Cambridge train was a couple minutes late which was helpful as the LNER arrival was also slightly delayed. The next Cambridge train is only 20 minutes later anyway if you do miss it.

Thank you both for your replies. I am able to take the stairs, thanks, so I'll exit between D and E. I'm in at 13.58 and due out on the Thameslink to Cambridge at 14.02, so it sounds promising.

For future reference, it is possible to request additional interchange time when booking on the forum's site.

This is done in the advanced options, and choosing to 'change at' any such location and then specifying the additional interchange time (which is added to the minimum).

I wasn't aware of that, so thanks for the heads up.
