Changing Split tickets

I recently booked (via the Forum ticketing site) split tickets to travel Southminster to Brighouse on a Thursday, returning same day. These are a mixture of advance, off peak and standard singles (all with senior railcard).

I now need to return to Saxmundham rather than Southminster. The two final homeward tickets are LUL Z1-2 - Billericay, and Billericay - Southminster. In reality I’ll need a different train out of LST, which passes through Shenfield (but doesn’t stop) but not Billericay. Can I travel to Billericay ticket as booked and simply buy a new Bilericay - Saxmundham? Or do I need to book a new ticket(s) all the way from London to Saxmundham And cancel both legs (which are off peak day and anytime day so should be refundable)? Thanks

Ideally I would ask for the itinerary and tickets to be stated in list format, to make it easier to follo, but reading this and thinking about it, yes it's fine to finish 'short' at Billericay, and buy a new ticket from there to Saxmundum.

But in reality you would actually finish short at Shenfield and buy a ticket from there, as it's pointless to double back to Billericay.

I see no problem doing this providing the train calls at Sheffield.

Yes you could alternatively do that, but I think you would need to make a manual application to customer services for a refund of part of the tickets.

You need to price up the cost of a new ticket from Shenfield to Saxmundum (if the train calls at SNF) vs Liverpool Street to Saxmundum (if you want to get a non-stop service), but the latter would be partially offset by a refund (minus admin fee).

However, the OP has explicitly said he needs to catch a train that passes through Shenfield without stopping/calling. If the OP intends to catch a train from London to Saxmundham that doesn't call at either Billericay or Shenfield, then surely new ticket(s) are going to be needed for that?

Absolutely. A ticket from Shenfield, or Billericay, will be of no use on a train that does not call at either of those stations.
