Changing between Tramlink and SWT at Wimbledon

Do I still need to touch the Oyster reader when boarding Tramlink for Wimbledon as I plan to use PAYG between Wimbledon and Twickenham on SWT this Saturday 10th December as I understand the station has yellow readers so I don't need to use the gateline.

I'll have PAYG and a Bus & Tram Pass on my Oyster card.

What is the different between touching an Oyster reader at Wimbledon and not tapping out at Wimbledon?

If you have a bus and tram pass on your Oyster then I don't think you have to touch in on the tram. It won't make any difference if you do though - you won't be charged if you don't exit at Wimbledon. At Wimbledon you need to touch the NR validators facing towards platform 9 to start your PAYG journey.

Does my page really say that? You need to touch in to start a rail journey at Wimbledon.

If you've arrived on the tram then you are not in the Oyster system for a rail journey. If you don't touch in to start a rail journey you will get a maximum fare when you touch out at the end of the journey.

I think I've finally got it. On the way back, I just touch in using the tram validator which will touch me out of the NR journey and start the tram journey instead of using the Platform 9 validators?

Thanks for your help. In the end, I touched out at Wimbledon to have lunch which didn't show the PAYG amount as I touched in at Mitcham Junction, so obviously worked.

Touching in seems to be the norm for passengers towards Wimbledon, but I've never touched in when travelling from one of the Croydon tramstops to Ampere Way with my Bus & Tram Pass.
