Changing at Barrow

I'm planning a "detour" on the way home from Skipton next week using the NOrthern £10 vouchers.

I'm changing at Lancaster onto the loco hauled service to Barrow arriving at 11:33 (platfrom 1) - changing at Barrow onto the 11:38 loco hauled service to Carlisle from PLatfrom 3.
Can anyone let me know which is the best coach to be in from Lancaster so that I am near the stairs/lift at Barrow ? I will have a suitcase with me so would want to reduce the amount to time needed for interchange.

After Carlisle - planning on using the 15:04 via Settle to Leeds - booked a 1st advance on the 18:15 Leeds to Stevenage after that.

Nearer the front should be better. Possibly the back door of the first coach.

However more pressingly, the loco sets can drop time due to being slower than DMU's and having slam-doors which means more time spent at stations so there is a chance you may miss your connection due to this.

but then you get a free day out as its a valid connection

I'm doing this going up to Newcastle on the 23rd. If it goes t*** u*, I will likely miss the Chathill train...
