Hi all,

I have foolishly misplaced my Annual Gold Card (bought from an East Coast station), and having thoroughly searched for it, have nearly decided to use my one chance and get a Duplicate. However, it is growing increasingly likely that I may change jobs soon and thus be commuting on a different line with a more expensive season ticket.

If I get the Duplicate season ticket, will this affect my ability to do the season ticket changeover in future? If so, would this still be the case if the original season ticket was subsequently found?

If this course of action could hamper a season ticket changeover in future, then I may hold off a bit longer in the hope that the original turns up...

You can still apply for a change-over with a Duplicate Season Ticket, however if a refund would be due it should be added as an extension to the new ticket instead of being refunded, subject to a maximum validity for the new ticket of 12 months.

The extra days are calculated using the current price and rounded down.

For example:

Original ticket: Southampton Central - London Zones 1-6 valid from 01/08/2012 to 31/07/2013
New ticket: Woking - London Zones 1-6 valid from 01/04/2013

Base rate of original ticket : £5600 (Annual Price) / 365 days = £15.34 (to nearest 1p)
Base rate for new ticket : £3452 / 365 = £9.46

Number of days from 01/04/2013 to 31/07/2013 : 17 weeks + 3 days = 122 days

Credit due on original ticket : £15.34 * 122 = £1871.48
Charge for new ticket : £9.46 * 122 = £1154.12
Refund Due : £1871.48 - £1154.12 = £717.36

Base rate for new ticket at current price : £3604 / 365 = £9.87

Number of extra days to add : £717.36 / £9.87 = 72.68 = 72 days (rounded down)

New expiry date : 31/07/2013 + 72 days = 11/10/2013

The ticket is issued on DUPLICATE stock with the price of the credit as usual (i.e. £1871.48 in this example) with the same figure taken as the refund amount so it balances.

HTH,

Barry

Thanks barrykas. Even if on DUPLICATE stock, would it still function as a Gold Card?

I believe it is still Gold Card stock, albeit with replacement, similar to this older one (from the ticket gallery):

That's Travelcard Gold stock (and pretty old I guess given the printing method and "R" prefix on the zones). Non-zonal Gold stock is different - the one I lost was on stock similar to below.

I presume there is also Duplicate Non-Zonal Gold Card stock?

The Duplicate above appears to date from 1999. It certainly appears identical to the stock I remember using at that time!

Either way, what I meant to illustrate that although it is on different stock, it still says Gold Card and appears to be a Gold card. I will update my post to clarify this. Apologies.

Yup. If the original ticket was a Gold Card, the new one would be as well if the new journey still qualifies (namely either the origin station or the issuing station and either the origin, destination or both, are in the London & South East area).

For example, Newbury - Westbury, issued at Newbury, WOULD qualify, as Newbury is in the L&SE area; but Westbury - Newbury, issued at Westbury, WOULD NOT qualify, because Westbury is outside the area.

Relevant stock codes are RSP 9699 (Common Stock, non-Gold Card, Season or Travelcard), RSP 7599/7 (Grey "point-to-point" Duplicate Season), RSP 7599/57 (Duplicate Travelcard), RSP 7599/25 (Duplicate "point-to-point" Annual Gold Card) and RSP 7599/67 (Duplicate Annual Gold Card Travelcard).
