Hi Guys / Gals, I have been playing ts2012 for some time and love it, my question is can I change consists on Scenarios. For example I have the Falmouth branch line and it is all steam, I would like to replace the steam trains with a DMU is this possible or if not can I put a DMU on the line for free roam. I am not good at programing so if you are kind enough to answer please make your advice easy for a total novice to follow :D. Many thanks

I know how. I will post instructions later unless someone else wants to do it first.

Firstly sorry I took so long to get back to you.
Now I don't know which (if any) add-ons you have so if you could post that I could tell you which box(es) to tick. Firstly go to the editor and hover over the object menu (hover the mouse on the left-hand side around the middle). Now if you want to use default stock (e.g class 166 DMU) then it will be in the menu already. If you want to use an add-on DMU (e.g class 101) then follow these instructions carefully. I have simplified them as much as possible. Just below the icon of the train there should be a small blue box with an orange arrow in it. Click on this and hover the mouse on the right-hand side of the screen roughly in the middle. In this menu there should be a drop-down box with the names of developers. Select one and tick the asset you want from the list (if you are confused by this post the list of add-ons you have and I will explain further). The train(s) you selected will now be in the menu on the left. Just right-click & drag them onto the track.

To be fair, the link I posted gives those step by step instructions but with detailed pictures to follow. If that has gone over the OP's head, then surely that will too.

I've never tried but I would assume so. Out of intrest would you reccomend I get the class 153? Is the small cab end actually simulated?

The JT 153 is a great model comes in a veriety of liveries with working destination blinds (press CTRL+F12), you are able to change ends but the cabs look the same at both ends, and its the large cab view thats used at both ends. Other than that its well worth the money, would reccomend the Class 153 + Totham Pack from JT as the Totham route is fantastic beautifully detailed and very interesting to drive round. off for a blast now i think.

I'd suggest that you duplicate the scenario in question first before you edit it. Just incase you wanted to go back to the original and/or in future you dont lose it due to a SBHH error that forces you to verify the cache.

I've also got a similar query, so thought I'd add to this thread than create a new one...

So say for example I fancied using my JT153 on the Bristol - Exeter free roam scenario, how to I get it to a state where it is good to go and will 'work' straight away having followed the instructions above posted by 150222?

Many thanks in advance, any extra tips and suggestions welcome :)

To actually be able to use the train, there should be an icon in the top left of the screen in the menu that has a mans face (a railway engineer?). Select this and then select the front carriage of the train (which ever direction you want to first move the train in) and then an icon should appear above the engine.

Press the orange triangle on the bottom right, save and there you have it! :)

Thanks. I'll give this a go sometime in the next couple of days and report back :)

UPDATE: Managed to mess around whilst cloning some of the free roams, adding in some other content (such as the NXEC HST on Bristol - Exeter), but I can't find a way of dragging the blue box with an orange arrow in order to be able to use some of the content from addons (the JT 153 is what I'd really like to use, although it's not availble in the option list, and I can't get the method above to incoroporate it) Any advice? :)

It's ok, I've managed to do it now! I thought you had to actually drag the blue box across the screen, didn't realise you just had to click it and then move your cursor on over.

Cheers for your help, and Crossover, who gave similar advice on another thread :)
