Change advance ticket to next year

Hi,
I booked an advance ticket from Euston to Manchester for next Friday, the day before the train strike. I am no longer able to travel, and the next time I need to get to Manchester is only August 2024.
Can I exchange it for an off-peak ticket that is dated only for next year? Or is there any other way not to waste the ticket?

Probably not, it sounds like the strike is a coincidence rather than the reason for not travelling.

I can't imagine planning things that far in advance, but I think a ticket office could do this.

If I recall correctly walk up fares are available 12 months in advance, but you would probably need to make it clear you understand that you can't book any trains. Would avoid the March fare rise at least

Tickets can be bought up to 12 months in advance of travel, but that is limited to walk-up tickets without reservations. There would be a £10 fee on top of the difference in fare to pay.

And the OP would, if doing it online, need to find an itinerary not involving Avanti, as the compulsory reservation thing would block this. Unless a friendly booking office will do it.

There is absolutely no chance of being able to do it* online.

I don't think it will be possible to find any trains for the May 2024 timetable yet In-person is the only option, but thankfully ticket offices aren't closed yet.
