Buddleja is a nasty one. Folks think that it looks nice, however what isnt visible is the holes its root system is punching in masonry concrete etc.

Thanks Pete. Here is a picture taken Along Dr Newtons Way in Stroud of the same viaduct this afternoon 2 August 2022. You can not tell me that this is safe. People can walk under this. I have heard bus drivers say that it is only time before bricks will fall onto cars from the Merrywalks viaduct. Come on railtrack do your job and maintain what used to be OUR railways.

It’s Network Rail which is 100% owned by the UK government. Ie it’s in public ownership.

Also trying to work out where that photo is taken from. Dr Newtons Way passes under the railway, with the bridge being metal. Is this photo actually taken from the Waitrose car park, in which case there no danger to anyone below (although clearly it needs better maintenance)?

Thanks lodekka.

Yes it looks like it's from the Waitrose car park. I've not really had a good look at the Merrywalks one for a while. Any brick falling from that one onto the road will have plenty of time to get up a good speed.

Yes it was the car park accross the road, sorry should have made it more clear

I understand that the vegetation at Chalford is now dying and turned a straw colour, although some weed killing, sorry ingress vegetation control, has been done. Funny that!!!
Certainly the buddleia is being cut back. I wonder who watches this forum?

Plenty of NR people do watch (and contribute) to the forum, but don't leap to conclusions about the weedkilling train being sent out specially because somebody had a moan online.
