CFPS Tour 10th October

I see the 4th December tour to Lincoln Christmas Markets (for the slightly insane) has been caped, but a 10th October tour appeared on the CFPS website. Does anyone have any ideas where this is going, especially as its a Sunday???

Details of the BLS tour on October 10th with 40145 are now on the CFPS website. (No doubt Nedchester will be along to post this but I've beaten him to it!) Nice to see a good old traditional BLS typed booking form!

Don't know what's more dreadful, the route or the booking form. Must be some ancient hardcore traction in use! But the obviously have some IT to scan the thing in! Anyway I'm doing the Sunday, would do Saturday if it was more interesting than a pair of sheds!

Will this tour be with aircons? I ask because the BLS are operating a tour, also from/to Crewe, on the previous day via the Cumbrian Coast. It's highly likely the same stock will be used for both IYAM, and I understand all tours over the Cumbrian Coast have to use aircons for clearance reasons.

40145 is working the Sunday tour only from Crewe to Preston Docks / Heysham / Hellifield / Blackburn / Bolton top and tail with a Shed.

Air cons I assume?

Surprised the CFPS are going down this road with another up and down freight line chugger after the Pathfinder one was caped back in October.

Mr. Stephens himself said that the low bookings were most likely due to the fact that people prefer a high speed main line run where they can hear the loco.

The fact there was a 66 on the back of that also no doubt would have deterred a lot of people, so interesting choice to use one again on this tour.

4SRKT, the last Branch Line Society railtour a month or two back was Riviera mk2 air-con.


Edit: Sorry I see that its the Branch Line Society who is promoting this tour and not CFPS.

The last BLS tour which used 40145 (back in June) was a success - BLS trains tend to fill reasonably well whatever the traction as they tend to go for more hardcore track which has its own market, so I suspect the 40 itself is just some added interest to get those spare seats filled.
