Shockingly the gen is that this tour will be formed of nasty aircons. How does that work on what's clearly a tour aimed at bashers? I certainly won't be going on this now.

Strangely enough the tour is NOT aimed at bashers. It's aimed at the joe public (from the ELR area) who so dutifully supported the last tour in January.

Aye, that'll be why members of the CFPS have priority booking.

Members of the CFPS have priority booking on all trains hauled by 40145.

Many of 40145s trips this year are those aimed at the 'day out' market. Tomorrows tour is a case in point. 40145 is working Crewe to Carlisle via the S&C out, Shap back on what is basically a S&C land cruise.

Anyway, whoever it's aimed at, sadly it isn't me. I wish those who do go a fantastic day out.

Bookings are going well for what should be the last 40 over the Cambrian, so get your bookings in soon if you wish to travel.

You say it's the last one to visit the coastal town of Aber (all of us that live/lived anywhere near it call it that, much easier) - and no, not that station on the Valleys! - but it's only going to be piloted in the future correct? So surely she'll still power any tour to Aber in conjunction with the pilot loco?

Or have I got it all completely wrong (certainly an outside chance)?

You are right, but its not really the same is it?

Timings have now been confirmed by NR: http://cfpsnews.wordpress.com/2009/...he-east-lancs-crusader-on-saturday-june-13th/

Timings have now been confirmed by NR, the train will do the rare curve from Castleton North Junction to Castleton South Junction in the morning. Part fares are available for £10 from Rawtenstall/Bury Bolton Street to Manchester Victoria in the morning for anyone wanting to get the curve in.

The booked 67 for the Castleton drawback on this is now 37670/401. £10 part fare available from Manchester Victoria to Bury/Rawtenstall at night for anyone wanting to sample the 37s & 40.

NOTE: The 37s will work from Castleton Station - Rawtenstall, for 40145 to Bury on the 'ECS'

And don't forget 37109 should work the 'ECS' in the morning from Bury - Rawtenstall, which is open to passengers!
