Central Trains hidden logos and gems

About 3/4 years ago, one of the stations (cant remember which) between Manchester and Liverpool (via Rainhill) still had very faded Network Northwest branding on everything.

Was amazed when I spotted it as it must have been 20 odd years old!

Incidentally, further to earlier posts I spotted quite a few signs on the Underground pointing to "British Rail" during a brief visit this week. Embankment and Cannon Street certainly had quite a few.

As an aside and slightly off topic, I was particularly pleased to hear the old BR Solid State Ditra announcing system in use at Seven Sisters. That must be cracking on 20+ years old now. It was starting to sound its age though as it was a bit crackly and muffled. It must be one of the last working examples of original old BR announcing systems left.

Dont know if they are still there but in the old subway at Newport there were still posters hanging a few years ago from 1968 when the subway closed.they were visible from plat 2 and 3 looking down at the subway...Cardiff return for 3 shillings and Monica extolling the virtues of "see a friend this weekend!"

A lot of Northern's pacers have Regional Railways 'Private' signs on the driver's doors.

All Northern-managed stations now have Northern station signs, with redeveloped stations such as Blackburn and Accrington having Northern-style 'Platform 1-->' etc signs, but until 3-4 years ago, the stations around here had the station nameplates and signs in the style of Wigan Wallgate's photo above. Many still have it on their big totem pole signs outside, and my local may still even have the timetable boards like those at Wallgate, I shall check. I saw a privacy sign on the cab door on a Northern 156 yesterday from something like Network North East!

Several stations on London Midlands City Network still, if you look around are still in Central Trains Colours complete with Central Trains & Central Trains, Part of the National Express Group! - There's one on the Great Malvern end of Worcester Forgate Street / the Terminating platform for services from Birmingham...

NSE Is everywhere, and no doubt will remain everywhere until each and every TOC has another big branding exercise! South West Train’s Micheldever has only a handful of signs with the SWT stripes on - the rest of the sign & rest of the station's signs are still NSE Branded / Coloured and even came with this little gem...

Even Waterloo still has it's ex NSE 'tick tock' clocks - though considerably out of date and half the time, out of time too!

Wigan Wallgate had a lot of Northern branded signs, but this one was spotted in the entrance hall this week. Interestingly I also noticed a sign on the booking office window about how you could pay for tickets and at the bottom it said "First North Western".

You mean this one:

They were fitted to 156's as well from memory, so some of the ex ATN 156's which are now working over the North West area will probably have them on aswell.

Thank you for the tip off about Worcester Forgate Street. Any other stations? I have just spent some time exploring the LM City remit and I thought it looked they had a big rebranding exercise including lamposts!

Like Seven Sisters, I believe Bishops Stortford still has an old solid state announcement system. Despite using the West Anglia route quite regularly, I only heard the announcement yesterday:

"The train at Platform 2, calls at Sawbridgeworth, Harlow Town, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street. The train at Platform 2, calls at Sawbridgeworth, Harlow Town, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Tottenham Hale and Liverpool Street."

As for the LM 153s, there's tow of them and they're on loan to NXEA whilst they get one of their trains repaired, I can't remember if it's a 170 or the 156 that hit the tanker at Sudbury.

156417 was the unit involved. It's at Wolverton undergoing repairs.
