Central Scotland Rover, is the route map correct?

I'm going to give one of these tickets a whirl early next month. Both National Rail Enquiries and railrover.org have this link to a map of the area. Which is simple enough.

However, in the description of the area it covers, railrover.org states

In the north it extends as far as Dunblane and Alloa via Stirling and to Markinch via Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline. It is also valid from Cumbernauld to Motherwell.

But Motherwell is not on the map.

Another confusing bit says

Travel between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts or Carstairs is valid on ScotRail services only.

Glasgow Central, Shotts or Carstairs are not on the map. And stating this route is valid only on Scotrail services implies that on other routes, other TOCs can be used. I though it was only valid on Scotrail (and Glasgow subway).

Am I being a bit thick here?

But I agree, that map provided doesn't match the description of where it's valid.

I had a look on the Scotrail site but the Rovers page was just coming up blank.

Thank you for highlighting this, the map was an old one and has now been updated.
The Scotrail website is a little confusing in that for the Central Scotland Rover it states Scotrail as the only train operator but then superfluously states that "Travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh is valid on ScotRail services only", one assumes then that it is also valid on all operators services except as stated?

I have used this ticket on XC between Edinburgh and Markinch, and on EC between Edinburgh and Perth in combination with another ticket. On both occasions the Rover was accepted without issue.

It was also accepted on XC between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central via Motherwell, despite what it says in some publicity.

I find that guards are much more relaxed over there.

It doesn't say it isn't valid on XC (or TPE). It says it is not valid on EC or VT.

Are the guards more relaxed or unaware? Generally, I find often when I am on a Rover type ticket that it's only the date the guards seem to look at.
