Central Scotland electirification

apparently this is still on. What will it actually consist of?
I know the core is the Edinburgh-Falkirk High-Glasgow Queen Street route and have seen Stirling mentioned as a near certainty. Where will the Stirling wires terminate? At present, many of the local services terminate at Dunblane or Alloa- so wires at least as far there?

With three out of four Glasgow-Edinburgh lines electrified, will the Shotts route be wired up too? Cumbernauld too? The infills are surely easier and cheaper than the delicate task of extending into Fife.

Stage 2 is to electrify the diversionery routes :
Greenhills - Falkirk Grahamston - Polmont

This would remove DMUs from the Glasgow - Cumbernauld - Falkirk Grahamston service

The Kippenross tunnel is sometimes mentioned as a "problem", with the suggestion that it'll have to be permanently opened up and thus spoil the lawn at Kippenross house. Looking at multimap today, I noticed that Kippenross tunnel doesn't appear to have ventilation shafts. Is this normal for a fairly long tunnel?

There are no plans to extend beyond Carmuirs to Larbert

Stage 3 is for electrification of several routes to the south of Glasgow, in effect for all the services currently operated by Class 156 units

The EGIP project includes electrification beyond Larbert to both Dunblane and Alloa and by all accounts it's still going ahead. Where have you heard anything to the contrary?

The EGIP project no longer applies and was replaced last year by the formal five stage project
All five stages have passed planning and finance, stages one and two have been approved for construction

It was always the case that stages one and two would be built together, once the required contractors have completed their involvement in stage one they then move to stage two

There is then the possibility that stage three can be merged with this project, this needs approval by the end of next year
If not, then a new set of contracts will be required
