Catford Bridge -> Catford (3NOV23)

Had a few hours to burn around London, so thought I’d try Catford to Catford Bridge by rail, instead of the 50 second walk. I know there are most likely other routes to mine, so would be interested to hear other ideas!

Train 1
1V51, formed of 376002 and 376027. Departed Catford Bridge at 12:14, arriving into Clock House at 12:21.

Walked to Beckenham Road, and took the tram to Beckenham Junction.

Train 2
2M58, formed of 465004 and 465036. Departed Beckenham Junction at 12:50, arriving into Shortlands at 12:53

Train 3
9Y28, formed of 700036. Departed Shortlands at 12:56 (was scheduled a one minute connection, very thankful for a cross platform connection!), arriving into Catford at 13:04.

Total journey time was 50 minutes. Next time, I’ll definitely walk .

The direct all-rail routes are via Lewisham and Nunhead or Lewisham and Petts Wood (additional change off-peak at Bickley), unless you wait for a day when Mid-Kent trains are diverted to Beckenham Jn.

That hadn’t even crossed my mind, as we used out of station interchanges. Will look at giving it another go when I have time to burn in London again.

Didn't think of OSIs - and didn't know Beckenham Road had one, but it's potentially useful.

Didn't think of OSIs - and didn't know Beckenham Road had one, but it's potentially useful.

Beckenham Road (as well as Clock House) additionally have OSIs with Kent House where you can catch an Orpington-bound to BKJ, if you want to avoid the tram.
