Catering on Virgin

I usually tend to travel first class on weekdays on pendos, I like the cooked breakfast on virgin, never been disapointed by it, but I think East Coast edge it has they have more variety, and you can usually get plenty of toast whereas Virgin offer u one round.

I nearly choked on my cornflakes - Dave is obviously not a subscriber to the East Coast Catering Thread - A "Toast Famine" has been a regular occurence to myself on EC

Virgin have Black Pudding and a proper Egg, and whilst East Coasts recent revamp with the omellete and rosti replacing the s/egg and potato cake is an improvement, I still think Virgin have the edge on Breakfast. The rest of "the day" goes to EC though !!!

Fair play Butts, I havent been on EC 1st class since they replaced scrambled egg with the omlette, I should have done but the snow prevented me. I usually get the 08:45am Leeds - Kings X and usually get a few rounds of toast on that as well as the full breakfasts and a few glasses of juice and plenty of tea/coffee.

Yea I like what EC offers for the rest of the day compared to Virgin.

To be honest often when having 1st class service i would much prefer a pannini & choice of crisps from the buffet counter rather than the set menu & wonder how many of my fellow passengers would choose the same given the chance.

Breakfast on the 0935 KX - Leeds , a bacon roll and one (!) slice of toast - (overhearing the crew mentioning they had run out of bacon - only 39 passengers in first) - kept the wolf from the door pro-tem.

VT is doing warm option trials on "Light bite" services.
On 13:30 Euston to Glasgow we've been offered warm meat pastry or cheese and onion toastie that looked like panini sandwich. It was really nice.
This would be a great improvement on their rather tiny sandwiches or salad boxes offered normally.

That sounds like the usual 'enhanced' Light Bites that they offer on Euston - Glasgow services, the only change being they're offering it from Euston rather than Preston.

Indeed! I've often thought that they should offer the 'enhanced' Light Bights throughout on Euston - Glasgow and, to be honest, on some of there other services as well. It's one area that East Coast have Virgin totally beaten by having something hot on all their services (at least in theory!).
