I don't think they particularly care about accuracy when it comes to trains. I haven't seen tonight's episode, but I remember one a while back when there was a train crash involving some old Mk2s - I think they were ex-Virgin.

I keep wondering when they're eventually going to replace that Y-plate ambulance that they're still using!

Its not just trains that programme doesn't care about the accuracy of.
Doctors with untied long flowing hair and high heels would not be allowed near an A and E ward in real life, and this evenings episode also featured a clip of the BBC News Channel at 08:33 on a weekday covering the train crash with graphic images when they don't show such images and would be in a business programme at that time anyway.

And an intercity service which derailed in casualty a little while ago with MK1 coaches
Tvs rarely use modern stock when it comes to crashes etc

Many years back on Casualty there was a train crash involving a tunnel near a level crossing.
That ambuance had a long way to come from Holby (Bristol) to get to Grosmont.

That period on the NYMR had 3 incidents on film.
The Casualty one.
Tunnel smash on Heartbeat and finally a briefcase bomb going off on a train filmed for the Cook Report.

I believe all 3 featured the same coaches with the Cook report being the final end for at least 2 of the coaches.

This, this and thrice this! the level of complete and utterly pointless spotter wibble these threads generate is humorous. Guess how much real people care? That's right, not at all. Why? Because Casualty is a medical drama and not a railway drama.

Mind you I am sure if you logged on to some medical forum they would be saying the same thing about medical practices shown!

don't be silly. :roll: Real people as in non spottery normal people who have at best a passing interesting railways as a way to get them to work rather than the all consuming obsession many on this board have with railways.

Just because something doesn't interest some people doesn't mean that people who are interested in it are not real.

The series of events was simply not believable. Surely he should have been injured when he fell between the train and platform, not as he climbed out and the car touched his leg at 0.5mph somehow causing a catastrophic injury.

I keep wondering that as well! The fact that they still use such an old ambulance is as factually correct as the majority of their stunts.

As the series is filmed in the Cardiff area, I would guess maybe Barry Island?

Did anyone notice the minor error in Channel 4's Ackley Bridge this week?

One of the characters went to Hebden Bridge and was seen alighting from a refurbished ARN 158 at Hebden. So far, so much better than Auntie's efforts...

However, Ackley Bridge is a fictional suburb of Bradford... yet the character alighted from a unit heading TOWARDS Bradford and Leeds!

Presumably it was easier to film from that platform due to space and staff availability. Fair enough, I guess.

it's not even a medical drama anymore ...

early Casualty was spot on clinically and in terms of the politics of the health service , it;s jumped the shark and turned soapy ...

IIRC Loughborough is also a long way from Brizzle yest a Holby Ambulance Service vehicle managed to fall off a Bridge in Loughborough onto the GCR

no it's not ... but Casualtyl gave up on accuracy a long time ago medically / operationally.

Early Casualty borrowed everytying ambulance wise other than one of two vehicles from Avon Ambulance

mid period casualty had a number of current ambulances leased on favourable terms from builders ( Josh had a Wheeled Coach / Modular in that period and FIn had a UVG Premia on a LDV )

late period casualty is using any random ****e picked up from the surplus auctions

Fortunately Siemens have built a load of 707s that can used for that purpose in a year or two.
