Hi everyone

First of all I have to say am against any sort of fare evasion. I understand some people make mistakes.

My friend was caught on a incident . He received the letter and wrote apology letter saying he understand what he did was wrong. And showed the action he took for this not to happen again. They decided not to proceed with prosecution

Am writing this message for people who are extremely worried to feel a bit a better. If you truly learnt something from this no matter the outcome you are in the right track
They look at it from a criminal point of view if you deliberately did this for a long time.
If this your first time caught.
How did you react to handler. It's a combination of things. Write an honest letter and wish for the best

Regards

Thanks for letting us know how things went with your friend.

Two things that I draw from this:
- this is another report of TfL settling out of court: enough for it to be clear that out of court settlements are no longer unthinkable in London
- it continues to be important to show that the person involved will take steps not to offend again.

It would be helpful to know what exactly the “friend” did, what action was taken for it “not to happen again” and what the settlement was for this to be useful.

Given the dire state of TfL's finances, possibly a penny has dropped and they are now seeking to maximise revenue recovery from out of court settlements instead of pressing the "prosecution" button, where they get a nice warm feeling, but incur higher costs and recover less money?

Quite the point I made previously
