Carrying the Karrier

Yesterday, my colleagues and I spent the day picking up this beauty (or beast, depending on your perspective). It was a long day, but completely worth it! I took photos of the day's proceedings and a few of my pics are attached.

For the record it's Ashton-under-Lyne Corporation 8 (TE5780), a Karrier WL6 with English Electric bodywork. It's the only pre-war Ashton bus that survives, the only Karrier half cab bus restored and one of a tiny number of preserved six-wheel buses. And it runs! It even drove on and off the low loader under its own power.

It's now safely installed (and on public view) at the Museum of Transport, Greater Manchester.
