Career As a Signaller

Hi I'm currently a Senior Conductor and have had the opportunity to visit Rugby ROC on a couple of occasions and WMSC and found the experience very fascinating. I recently applied for a speculative job advertisement for Signaller grade 2-4 Worcester area. Advertised at £26k to 31K.
Just wondered if anyone knows realistically what you could possibly earn with RDW / OT ( and is RDW regularly available?)and are their any shift allowances for this grade? Also what other benefits are available and the general shift pattern?

I started as a grade 3 resident (middle of that range), £35k should be very easy to achieve with booked Sundays (overtime at 1.5x pay) and a little bit of RDW (at x1.25 pay). Availability of the latter obviously differs from one area to another, but it was pretty much on tap in our area. Night premiums (10% on any hours between 2200 and 0600?) and generous bank holiday premiums (generally 2.5x pay) help push the figure up too.

As residents, we worked to a four week cycle (nights, lates into long weekend, earlies, 'split' week - earlies, two or three RDs then finishing on lates), but again that'll differ from one area to another. It only just worked for us because we didn't have night turns on Saturday and Sunday nights.

The quoted figure doesn't include Sundays or night shift premium. Add in a little RDW and add about 5k to 6k to those numbers.

Grade 2 basic = £26665
Grade 3 basic = £29998
Grade 4 basic = £31644
