Marches line resignalling, I picked this up on North Wales rail forums

The new signalling system between Crewe Gresty Lane signalbox and Shrewsbury Crewe Junction signalbox will take over on Monday 10 December The last day of semaphore signalling from the mechanically worked signal boxes at Nantwich, Wrenbury, Prees, Wem, Harlescott Crossing and Shrewsbury (Crewe Bank) is Sunday 9 December. All trains using this section of line will be controlled from the Shrewsbury North panel located in the South Wales Signalling Centre in Cardiff.
This is one of two pilot schemes for Network Rail's 'modular signalling' concept.

We are told that the old signalboxes will remain in situ for one month, before being demolished. Photographers please note.

The closure of Wem signalbox, and the conversion of level crossing to a full-barrier one supervised by CCTV from Cardiff has been controversial, as the crossing, at the convergence of Aston Street, Station Road, and Soulton Road, is said to be the sixth most abused in the country. On the other hand, Councillor Pauline Dee, of Wem Town Council, would like to see the signalbox saved and converted into a new museum or tearoom.

I seem to remember that this project was meant to be finished some time ago but was delayed due to problems with the modular signalling equipment.

Because Crewe will eventually go and I think there is still a regional boundary at Nantwich.

I am wondering why Cardiff not Crewe? is this a throw back to Western Region thinking?

In the big resignalling plan, Cardiff will eventually take over all of the new Wales Route which includes all of the Marches line and Shrewsbury-Wrexham/Crewe, also North Wales.
It's not clear what will happen at Chester as it's properly part of LNW North Route which like Crewe will go into Manchester (Gorton), but where the boundary with Cardiff will be isn't clear.
Both routes have a shout in the Wrexham-Chester redoubling.
Midlands (Saltley) will get Shrewsbury (east of Abbey Foregate)-Wolverhampton.
In the one recent example of changing the semaphores at Shrewsbury, an upper quadrant signal was installed at the south end of P3, so the LNWR influence is still active!

LNWR, upper quadrant signals? I don't think so. Perhaps LMS.

Shrewsbury General, as the present station was known, was joint GWR & LNWR until 1922, however LMS was the new kid on the block,
perhaps not quadrants with LNWR,but the off was up with either Company.

Any thoughts

I am afraid the above post makes almost no sense to me. Could you rephrase please?

LNWR & LMS signals were raised for the off(Green slide ), GWR signals dropped for the off to show the green, hope this clears my comments.
at Rhyl station LNER & then LMS the porters would say "hes pulled off" meaning the signalman, to us this meant the train had left Prestatyn

Not true. LNWR signals, like those of every other pre-grouping company in Britain, were of the lower quadrant variety.
