Cardiff Park & Ride?

Hello all,

Not been to Cardiff for about 6 years now last tome went on a weekend when there was a P&R (Park & Ride) option at the council site on weekends only, I'm sure there were other sites available for weekdays

Looking at driving to Cardiff tomorrow (Tuesday) but can't find any references to P&R sites, apart from one at Cardiff East which looks handy but turns out it's only for Hospital use, but that's it, there must be another P&R sire somewhere surely, I would have thought there were P&R sites bur these aren't noted on council site or Cardiff Bus unless I'm missing it somewhere?

That's the only one unless you're going to a special event but I don't think there's anything to stop you using it even if you're not going to the hospital. Change to another bus there.

Severn Tunnel Junction is £4.50 to park and £2.90 each way PAYG to Cardiff Central on TfW trains only.

Cardiff is not like London, so you can easily park on unrestricted residential streets in the suburbs and catch a normal bus.

I went for the train option in the end, easy way especially when coming from the East

Surprising for a city that there is no dedicated Park & Ride from East or West (except for via Hospital of course, but I mean direct route in) I assume it's because as you say John you can just make up your own P&R route from any suburb of your choice?

I don't know how many other people have figured this out, but with modern technology "DIY P&R" is easy with a little research. Look at Google Streetview around frequent bus routes and you can see where you can park easily and reasonably safely. It is probably no accident that dedicated park and rides are more common in towns where residential parking is heavily restricted.
