I suppose Google Maps is out of date by only a couple of years - maybe only one if construction was rapid ?. But APCOA would be better off having their own poorly drawn map there instead.

I agree, at least temporarily. Apple Maps seem to have updated their map recently enough to include the new multi-story.

Late last year several times I was walking up Dumballs Road and across the main junction on Penarth Road to the station South entrance and I do not recall anything going on where the new car park is. But I was probably pre-occupied with crossing Penarth Road as the junction was all carved up with road works - ground conditions being investigated for the new tram route I believe. I remember years ago over there being the Brains Brewery and an area of little interest for me as the only station entrance was the other side of the railway so I was walking via the Taff embankment, which is now my "scenic route".

There has been a South entrance to the staion for many years (if not forever). Not neccesary to take Taff Embankment (unless you just prefer the longer scenic route)

Most of the time I was going to Cardiff Centre shopping with maybe a detour to the station. So I cannot recall when I thought about the South entrance. I stay most of the time on the West bank of the Taff ("Cardiff Bay" borders shall we say) so the scenic route is under my nose so to speak !. Some times I stay Cardiff bay proper and Dumballs Road has become an option. I have been told that Dumballs Road is not safe at night but I have not noticed ?.

Additionally, confirmation that the new Car Park has opened:

On Friday the Cardiff Central Quay multi-storey car park opened, as part of Network Rail’s wider regeneration of the station area - a collaboration with Platform4 and Transport for Wales.

Through its development, critical land has been unlocked to support the future delivery of rail-led enhancements and to create opportunities for homes, businesses and jobs.

Not in any meaningful way when I was last there.

They’ve announced the car park is closing in two weeks for work to start though.

Penarth Road car park at the southside of Cardiff Central station, and the Riverside (Fish Jetty) car park adjacent to platform 0 at the station, will permanently close from Wednesday 01 July.

The closure of the car parks will allow us to start carrying out preparatory works so we can move forward with the start of construction works for the planned enhancements at Cardiff Central station and Cardiff Crossrail.

Yes, so 22 months to get it done. Sounds reasonable as long and the contractor doesn't take any inspiration from the current Bay line work schedule.
