It is reported that Cardiff Bus have a Volvo 7900E electric demonstrator in use on service 6 with charging equipment in Cathays Park. The trial was due to run from 18 May for 8 weeks. I shall be in Cardiff on Friday 6 July and would like to sample this bus. Can anyone advise if the trial has been running successfully and if the bus is more likely than not to be running on Friday? I realise that that nothing is certain in bus operation but I don't want to waste my time waiting for it if there is little likelihood that it will turn up.

I work next to the Cathays Park terminal and, to be honest, have rarely seen it in operation!

The only time I have seen it, it was charging, so I decided to wait until it was complete so I could travel. The driver saw me and said "Sorry, mate, it's out of service, but I forgot to alter the blind!" and then drove off after the charging was finished.

That's not to say that it isn't running, mind you. A friend who also works in the same office has seen it a couple of times, but I'm not sure how often and whether it was at the same time each time.

I guess that it would be easier if it worked the same services regularly, but I don't know whether it does or, if it does, when they are.

Sorry to be vague ... !
