Caravans overlooking railway lines

Apart from those converted railway carriages in Dawlish, which overlook the First Great Western line does anyone know any other locations that do? (can be any mainline really) Looking for ideas for a weeks holiday!

There is several caravan and camping sites (!) along the Hope Valley, but I can't think of any others of the top of my head.

I've stayed in a former platelayers cottage next to the WCML at Tebay. This was back when there were proper trains running on there, so I'm not sure if it's still available. IIRC it was in the small ads of one of the railway magazines.

The Haven site in Carmarthen Bay is pretty close to the mainline between Swansea and Carmarthen, can't remember how close right now (been ages since I went that way), but it's a nice area which is nice to explore and of course you still get a daily HST each way, more in the summer.

There is a company in Cornwall with converted railway carriages which overlook the railway in Hayle and St Germans.

There is a caravan park north of Hartlepool at Crimdon Dene, some of them back onto the Durham Coast line

There is a caravan site on the ECML near Berwich in fact there is two in Berwick go fo the one further out of Berwick towards Scotland its more or less on the border. If your taking photo's you'll have the sea in the back ground and the edge of the rock aswell.

Also Seaham there a site there.

Filey on the Hull Scarbrough line

Lancaster on WCML (i think)

Burnt Island on the line from Edinburgh towards Aberdeen

Nain on the line from Inverness to Wick

Borth Wales, but thats just a small line used a few times a day

I Stopped in a tent at Seaview in Berwick last August, lovely little site. I reviewed it on here, look for spoon363 third one down. Trains used to wake us up all hours

Hi all, sorry to dig this up from the past but last week I stopped at a lovely little site just next to Monifieth station near Dundee. The name was Tayview Caravan and Capming Park, was brilliant being able to hear trains and also the sound of the sea whilst nodding off/waking up. Plus Dundee is a really nice place too. Mind it is very haunting passing over the Tay and being able to see the remains of the bridge that collapsed:cry:
