Car insurance hikes?

Anyone noticed a substantial hike in insurance lately?

My renewal quote for a car valued below £1000, a Seat Toledo 1.8 is £942
3rd party fire and theft.

What's everyone else paying?

Norwich Union quoted me a ridiculous renewal price but it turned out that their computer was "playing up" so the renewal price was based on me apparently having no No Claims discount (I have 5+ years) and me having my license for 1 year only (it's been 18 years since I passed my test).

Always worth checking they have your correct details and also doing a new quote on their website which may turn out cheaper

Is it cheaper to insure the individual parts? or to insure a bigger car than you have? Also if you are over 65 and drive wholly within the South East area, it may be cheaper if you say you are going out of the area and cut your journeys short? also only do day trips, never stay anywhere overnight. Provide full details and timings of all your journeys 12 weeks in advance for a hefty discount.
