Canterbury - Peckham - London

I'm making an odd journey tomorrow where I plan to go:

Canterbury East - Peckham Rye (changing Bromley South)
Then after meeting boyfriend in Peckham Rye going to London
Then London - Canterbury (most likely Charing Cross - West).

I was wondering if the following was possible:

Buy a Canterbury STNS - London Terminals Super Off Pk Day Rtn and break my journey at Bromley S (done this many times) then immediately re-enter the barriers there using my oyster card to get to Peckham Rye (and then the same from Peckham - London). Will the barrier staff have any problems with this?

You don't have to go through that messing around as your ticket to London is valid via Peckham Rye and it's valid for break of journey, so you can do all you wish without Oyster.

I think that depends where in London they're going. I agree that the ticket is valid all the way from Canterbury to Peckham Rye, with a break of journey at Bromley South permitted.

I suddenly thought that when I looked on a map as to where Peckham Rye is. Cheers guys - I'll double check with the ticket office guy just so I get someone official from Southeastern saying it's all good

On the railways, "some bloke on the station" is generally not a credible source of information (plus, you are just as likely to be told it's only valid on the direct train to Victoria).

On National Rail Enquiries, enter Canterbury to London Blackfriars, via Peckham Rye, and you'll get itineraries with a change at Bromley South, for the £22.40 Super Off Peak Return.

Good point, RJ, and one I'd checked regarding going to London Bridge from Peckham Rye: if you go via Catford then the maps show that you can carry on to Victoria or Blackfriars; you can apparently only go to London Bridge if you do the Canterbury - Peckham Rye section via Bromley South and Herne Hill - Tulse Hill. However, deferring to the NRE web site, as we are supposed to do, allows onward travel to Victoria, Blackfriars or London Bridge.

But it's not, I would say, completely obvious that it would be valid to London Bridge *via Peckham Rye*. I think this is what RJ was getting at previously.

I'm always slightly wary of tickets from Canterbury as there's always differences of opinion. In the end I just purchased a Canterbury STNS - Z1-6 travelcard then halfway there get told "I've finished work early, meet you at Victoria"... the things I do, that and the 40mph speed restriction from Tonbridge to Ashford then to Canterbury West tonight... but that's going off topic aha thanks for all your help

Sorry, didn't make myself clear: agreed, Canterbury to London Br via Peckham Rye isn't the obvious route, but once you have reached Peckham Rye, London Bridge is a natural terminal to make for (and has the most frequent train service, too).
