Since the underground station at Cannon Street is closed on weekends, whats the best way to get to Cannon Street from London Paddington? Is it in easy walking distance from any other underground station?

Try Bakerloo line from Paddington to Oxford Circus then change to Central Line to Bank (leave station using "Wallbrook" exit) .Walk from Bank Station to Cannon Street station along the road called "Wallbrook" which is about 5 minutes.
Bank, Monument or Mansion House tube stations are all approx. 5 mins walk away.

Much better!
I just hope they signpost these places properly.
I once started heading completely the wrong way out of Euston Square...

If you're going this weekend the Central Line is shut between White City and Holborn, so Oxford Circus has no Central line service.

Looking at a tube map the most logical route for this weekend, to me, would be to get the Bakerloo to Embankment and change to the Circle/District to Mansion House, however I'm willing to defer to someone with superior local knowledge.

You can almost see Cannon Street from the Walbrook exit of Bank. Unless the traffic on Cannon Street is busy it should take no more than 2-3 minutes to walk.

Assuming you mean Farringdon, then as the thameslink line is closed at weekends this would probably not work. Plus it's a very roundabout way of going anyway.

Good spot. I'm sure Cannon Street is signposted from Mansion House as well.
