Good idea for a thread....could be made a sticky?
Why was the West Coast Railways charter from Euston to Holyhead on Wednesday cancelled? Seemed the train didn't leave Euston.

Hi Signalmans Eye, just a quick genuine question,
uk railtours shows tin bath cancelled. royal scot railtour from perth march 25th shown cancelled.

Is the royal scot you refer to different from the one i was looking at on the NYMR website? If it's the same it seems daft to me that NYMR would advertise a week long event with royal scot if it's coming down from perth on a railtour on the opening day of said event.i would imagine the loco would need to be at NYMR for at least a couple of days before a big event so they can ensure that everything is ready & ok for them running services behind the royal scot for the week.

25th March cancellation is a train, not the loco

Thought there would have been a contingency 47 or 57 at Southall WCR?

Frustratingly for the tour operators, there was one at the buffer stops at Euston having pulled in the stock, but with nothing available to release it, it couldn't do anything.

I think they did rustle up another loco to take the ECS back to Southall, but took a while to do. I guess even if they did have one ready to go straight away, in the hour or so to get it to Euston, they would have lost their path on the line and might not have been possible to get a new one.

With everything cut to the bone these days I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't. That said I assume everybody on the tour received a full refund?

There was a 47 at Southall, the driver was at Euston though so took a while to get to Southall to collect it.
