This morning I was planning to get the 7:28 from Ely to LST on an advance single. This has been cancelled

I appreciate other services exist with the same operator - e.g. 7:44 - so I’m not losing a great deal of time

Would I in principle have been able to stay on my Great Northern train and route via KGX

And now I look, ticketing issues aside, I could have met it at Cambridge North

In the absence of any ticket acceptance on other operators, your ticket was only valid on other Greater Anglia services - not Great Northern ones.

GA had a 07:34 to Cambridge a few mins later, which would have followed your booked train from Cambridge North so you wouldn't have been able to catch up to it.

But you'd have caught the 08:17 from Cambridge which is scheduled to arrive at Liverpool Street at 09:35, only 15 mins late.

It started from Cambridge North, so as far as Ely (and your GA only ticket) is concerned it was cancelled.

In the end I used the GA which left Ely at 7:58 eventually arrived at 9:48

I considered staying on the GN to KGX, but thought better of it, hence starting a thread to work out if that was a possibility

I’d arrived at ely on the GN from LTP using an any Anytime Day Return
