canceling a refund request

Apologies if I'm asking a simple question.

My partner booked an £84.80 (I think) Preston to London off peak return for travelling out today (Friday 16th) through RSH. Now the concert she was going to was postponed yesterday. She put in a refund request. Now my brother is up from down south due to my dead passing away (it's been an odd week) and was going to drive to London early on Saturday morning. I suggested he won't be in the ideal frame of mind for driving there and back in a day and he should use the train ticket. Will we be able to cancel the request? And is the off peak return valid for travel 5 days from the date stated?

No. The outward portion shows a 'valid until' date of the first day of validity (although it is permitted in certain circumstances to continue outward travel into the second day).

The return portion is valid for one month.

You can not cancel the RSH refund request yourself.

If the order was delivered by post or you have already collected a TOD ticket then simply use the ticket as to complete the refund request you have to send the unused tickets in anyway.

If it was TOD and you have not collected it yet I'd suggest calling them. If they have not processed the refund yet they can reject the request. If they have already approved it then you will not be able to use the tickets as they will have been deleted from the TOD system.

Just to clarify, the ticket is from Preston-London. Is your brother intending to make a return journey from Preston-London, or from London-Preston? If the latter, this wouldn't work anyway, as on his journey back south he will be using an OUT portion, which is valid only with an unused RTN portion.

From the OP, he is currently in Preston and wishes to travel to London and back on Saturday.

The ticket is still of no use as it's out of date (for the outbound).

Yes, Preston to London, then back to Preston later on the Saturday.

Continue with refund request then.

Many thanks, been to busy to chase up details but knew there would be the knowledge on here.
