Canary wharf interchange directions/map?

Ok I will admit, the last time I went to Canary Wharf I was drunk as a skunk and spent half an hour+ looking for the entrance to the Elizabeth Line station.

Today though I was sober. I got off the Jubilee line and the only Elizabeth line sign I saw was a whiteboard with an arrow saying 350m walk. I followed it, and no other signs were visible during the 350m+ walk to somewhere that was not the Elizabeth line station.

Three people I asked were not able to collectively send me in the correct direction, and it only seemed to be dumb luck that I eventually got a strong enough GPS lock between the skyscrapers to point me in the right direction.

I am now wondering whether I was anywhere near as drunk as I assumed I was last time. My drunk directions are usually flawless...

Is this area designed to be unnavigable or is it just me? Is there some secret signage or some unpublished maps that are available, or is it just a case of having to be "in the know"?

I went there recently with lots of time to spare and it is a bit of a walk. Not sure if this YouTube video is any use to show the walk between the two stations.

(Video shows the walk from the jubilee line station at Canary Wharf to the Elizabeth Line station).

I'd say aim for West India Quay to find the entrance. As bizarre as that sounds.

I tried this a few days ago [a walk from Spoons back to Elizabeth line via West India Quay DLR] and got lost walking via the A1261. Am I supposed to cross over the dock and then double back into the Elizabeth station?

If you look at an aerial map, you will see there is a path along the north side of the dock directly from underneath West India Quay station into the EL station (although there is construction there so it's possible it's closed)

It’s not just you. My sense of direction is very good, even if I say so myself, and I always get lost around there. It’s the fact that everything looks the same and the fact the signage always sends you through the shopping centre.

Yes, just walk along the dockside. The construction work hasn’t blocked access to/from the Elizabeth Line station.

We live walking distance (sort of) away.

From the Underground, go out the main, west end entrance, up the big escalator bank.

Turn right (northwards) into the plaza, and just walk STRAIGHT. Straight into the shopping centre, straight through, straight out the other side, straight into the Elizabeth Line west end entrance.

Did I say Straight?

Normally the confusion comes from DLR users; of the three stations in close proximity Heron Quay is closest and direct to the Jubilee, West India Quay likewise for the Liz, while Canary Wharf DLR, between these two, leads to getting lost.

The current building works will not lead to the walk from West India Quay to the Liz getting closed, the contractor has that imposed on them. But when finished there will be a new direct walkway from the Liz entrance to Poplar DLR station, connecting into the big footbridge there. If you look at this now you can see how close they actually are.

Thank goodness for that. That's exactly how I recalled it. I thought I was going mad with how complicated everyone else is making it sound.
