Can Zero Fare Excess be issued by local Southeastern Station

I am having an Anytime Day Return ticket from Falconwood to London Terminals for tomorrow.
I am changing my mind to go to New Malden for a Korean dinner after work.
Due to London's fare structure, I notice that Falconwood - London Day Return is at the same cost as Falconwood - Richmond (via London) Day Return.
Since the fare difference is £0, would the local station be able to issue an excess ticket?

One more issue, I do need to ask for a let through when I get off at Waterloo East / Charing Cross, to avoid the ticket being retained?

Theoretically yes. In practice, in my experience, it is extremely difficult to get zero fare excesses and you will just be told to buy an extra ticket.

If you do manage to excess it (fingers crossed, cause it just depends on who you're lucky to speak to - though ticket office clerks are generally good) than you must retain the ticket as excess is only valid with the original ticket.

If you'll be unlucky and won't get it before the journey, then still try to ask about it at the barriers before you leave Waterloo East, cause they might be still able to help you if they have ticket selling staff with them, and at the worst, still try to ask in Ticket Office at Waterloo, and if that's still a No, ask Revenue Protection which are roving around gateline in Waterloo. Although they might refuse it due to journey being completed, definitely worth trying to ask them and hoping for their good will.

In theory any station with a ticket office should be able to issue the excess. In practice they are notoriously difficult to obtain, especially a zero fare one.
