Google says six minutes. But that's door-to-door, and doesn't allow time for finding that platform, getting stuck crossing roads, etc.

I think "pushing it" would cover that one!

Can you walk it in 10 mins? From the exit of Central to the door of Queen St., Yes.
From an arriving train on a platform at Central to on-board a departing service from Queen St., No. Even running (uphill) isn't going to improve my confidence in that one.

I'd advise having an alternative plan ready.

Thanks all. Have altered my plan now, so am on 1118 Alloa, giving me 30 minutes or so, which is absolutely no problem.

good plan, and then you can enjoy some of the urban scenery, altho prob not time for a pint in Horseshoe Bar, Drury Street. Suggest you leave time on the return journey

but as a Hun you might know that already

Now the Horseshoe is a good bar!

maybe time for a 'best pub near station' thread - or the more obscure 'best pub when changing stations'

There is one IIRC.

Certainly done that transfer in less than 10 mins, the EC was late in and I had to get the last low level to Helensburgh...

Although you changed your plans, did you make the walk in time to still see the 10:51 service present?
As is typical, it was probably in Platform 1 and then pulled from the departures board at 10:50
Equally, I have seen many people get through the barrier (presumably after the train has been pulled from the departures board) and not walk quickly enough, the train then leaves without them!
Presumably you travelled on the 11:18 as far as Croy, then took the bus to Cumbernauld?

A lot probably depends on traffic lights being in your favour. Walking (or running if you want to do it in 10 minutes) from Central to Queen Street involves crossing several busy roads.

Absolutely no way you do it in 10 minutes. Even if you ran it, no way. Crossing the roads with the maniac drivers would be the most time-costly thing.

P.S. If it was a Sunday morning, and you ran it, and there was no traffic, I bet you probably could do it in 10 minutes.

My personal best time between the two is 14 minutes. I've arrived into queen street at 7.47 and made it onto an 8.01 departure from central. That's walking via queen street itself and argyle street, there's probably a quicker way but ill never get lost this way!

FWIW I scrapped my original plan and went straight to Alloa instead. I did however arrive into GLC on time on account of the slack (at 1036), and was in the booking office queue at GLQ well before the 1047 Cumbernauld left...
