Can you identify this locomtoive?

Today I went to Shildon a lovely sunny day, I took photo but this one I don't know what it is, I think is Hudswell Clarke or Avonside and other photo 3131 (SR 11179) is this in British Rail Livery or Southern Rail livery?

From my memory 4 COR unit no. 3131 is preserved in the original Southern Railway livery of the 1930s which is a very dark green.
In BR days it was painted in malachite green which is a lighter green.

The steam locomotive looks to be Kitson 0-6-0 Saddle tank "Conway", built as works number 5469 in 1933. It was employed by Stewart & Lloyds Corby as their No.44 and was withdrawn from there in 1969.

This design of locomotive dates back to around 1917 when Manning, Wardle and Co built six examples for Stewarts and Lloyds at Corby. When Manning, Wardle and Co. closed in 1927, their goodwill and drawings were passed to Kitson & Company who went on to build another batch of seven locomotives, including 'Conway'. After closure of Kitson's four more were still produced, this time at Robert Stephenson Hawthornes of Darlington.

I'm almost certain that SprinterGuy is spot on. The Middleton Railway's relatively local to me so I've taken an interest in this project.

Essentially, the Middleton Railway are embarking on a general 'tidy up' of their fleet in a sense. They're not flushed with volunteers or workshop space but they are okay for cash - so they've agreed a deal that sees Locomotion cosmetically restore the engine whilst simultaneously taking the opportunity to train apprentices in these skills.

Likewise, Peckett 2103, an 0-4-0 saddle tank, has moved to Ribble Steam Railway on a similar deal.

To correct myself, it's Peckett 2003 of 1941, John Blenkinsop that's moved to Preston.
