Can two people sharing the same Netflix account but currently several miles apart both watch Netflix at the same time (separate profiles)?

Yes you can. You can't do it on the basic package, but there is a package which lets you watch from two devices same time.

As @tom73 says, it depends on the account type.

Yes. The £8 montly subscription allows two people to watch whenever.
