Understood! Tickets for the London airports, in the order of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted are a rip-off with Gatwick being everyone’s favourite “can of worms”!

given that the journey being made will be Heathrow Terminal 4 to Euston I actually think it will be just as quick to get the LU all the way overall. Much cheaper too! Total rip off using Heathrow Express, even with PRIV.

You could consider paying to Hayes/Harlington £1.60 Sgl/£3.15 Anytime Rtn then using boxes on the Connect, if you don’t want to get LU all the way.

It is far from being a rip-off, especially in the peaks as non-safeguarded staff have to pay full fare on the tube, which can cost over £5 for a single journey from Zone 1.

Before I owned a Travelcard, HEX is the only way I go to/from Heathrow using staff discount.

There are also plenty of other passengers who choose HEX for various reasons other than those you mentioned, as already discussed in various threads previously. I personally have used it a number of times paying cash fares even before I had staff discount.

I think it's only Eurostar that lets you get a discount on first class even if you only have standard privileges? (and that's with FIP, not PRIV).

I can't see why first class on HEX is worth the money. You have STACKS of space, but for such a short journey it really isn't worth it. I can't recall ever having to stand in standard class.

Can't you use a box/PRIV all the way to/from the airport on Heathrow Connect now that it's operated by TfL? That's what it says on the Rail Delivery Group's Rail Staff Travel website anyway; not tried it myself yet.

Yes, you can now following a recent change of operator but that post quoted was from a while ago.

I always use HEX when travelling Euston-Heathrow (Circle/H&C from Euston Sq-Paddington) as you'd have to be insane to take a large suitcase on the Picadilly line during the Peak on a Friday afternoon
