Hi All,

I've moved house and I just wanted to confirm if I was able to use my TFL Nominee pass at either Dagenham Dock or Rainham on the national rail service.

I understand that I am able to use it between Fenchurch Street and Upminster but just wanted to clarify if I could use it at either of the two stations above.
I would assume not as they aren't directly on that line and branch off after Barking.

See the attached picture of the map.

Thanks in advance.

Your nominee pass is valid as follows:
Staff and nominee Oyster cards give free travel on all TfL’s rail services (Tube, DLR, London Overground and Elizabeth line), and London’s bus and tram services. It also allows free travel on selected National Rail services (standard class only) between the following stations:

Amersham – Marylebone
Finsbury Park - Moorgate (via Drayton Park only)
Fenchurch Street – Upminster
Stratford - Liverpool Street
Kentish Town - Elephant & Castle or London Bridge
Euston - Watford Junction
Staff and nominee Oyster cards also give you discounted travel on other operators’ services, including:
Thames Clipper Services (staff-rates available)
Emirates Air Line (Oyster fares apply)

Dagenham Dock and Rainham are not on the route between Fenchurch Street and Upminster so you cannot use your nominee pass at those stations.

You would have to touch in/out at Barking and use a regular Oyster or contactless card between there and Dagenham/Rainham, or you would have to buy a paper or eTicket single/return for the Barking-Dagenham/Rainham section.

Oyster or contactless is cheaper than paper/eTicket in most cases, but obviously less convenient since you'd have to change trains at Barking to use the readers to touch in/out.

If it's a journey you'll be doing regularly you could consider getting a point-to-point season ticket, e.g. Barking to Dagenham Dock or Rainham, since that would avoid having to change trains at Barking. That would cost £22.80 or £30.60 a week, respectively. You'd have to travel more than 5 days a week though, at peak times in both directions, for it to be cheaper than using Oyster or contactless.
