Can I O/D Excess an mTicket?

(I know, I know, I know. I regret the mTicket now. Was running late to Paddington coming from the West car park and didn't have time to schlep to the ticket office and back).

I have an anytime day return PAD to Basingstoke, Trainline mTicket, that I wish to O/D excess the return portion of.

Any chance of them being able to do it at the Reading or Basingstoke ticket offices?

There is no entitlement to an overdistance excess - and most ticket office staff have said they cannot or will not excess m or e-tickets.

You can obtain a refund on any unused portion of the ticket - as an Anytime Day Single is half the cost of an Anytime Day Return for that route, you'll get back the difference, less whatever refund fee Trainline impose. It may be cheaper to do this and then to buy a new ticket, than to buy an extension ticket.

I've managed to excess out of a railcard onboard when the ticket staff refused to do it with an m ticket - the chances are very slim granted, but I don't see why the OP can't try
