Can I get my TOD tickets issued in the old ticket format?

Evening,

(I've had a search through this section of the forum but I can't find the answer, hence the new thread.)

I've got a trip to Scotland in the offing week after next and I need to collected my Ticket(s) on Departure. I like in Woking so when they come out of the TVM, along with all of the other tickets I've bought, I assume they'll be on the new stock. The one I mean looks like this or this.

I want to keep these tickets for souvenir value. And I prefer the old stock - the one that looks like this. So my question is, is there any way of getting my ToDs on the old stock? I've seen them come out of a little grey printing box at the ticket office windows, so I'm hoping they can punch in the ToD code and out they come...it probably doesn't work like that.

Thanking in Advance (!),
Robert

The stock is the actual ticket that is printed on.

I assume you mean the old layout of printing without the full station names, everything in capital letters etc?

The only way to determine is trial and error really, at my station all the ticket machines and the ticket office printers print most tickets in the new style!

Perhaps not all places have upgraded and might still print tickets in the older style but I am not sure if there is a way to find out without actually picking them up for yourself :(

All VTEC machines print in the new style but I don't know about SWR in the Woking area

I edited the thread title to avoid confusion, by the way.

I think you can rely on a Virgin Trains machine to print in the old layout.

Virtually all VTWC FastTicket machines I've used are still reliably printing in the old style.

Yorkie is absolutely right - I do mean format rather than stock.

I'm in London later today so I'll try at the ticket office window at Woking this morning and failing that I'll try a VTWC machine at Euston.

I think the ones outside the entrance on the south side (out the doors and turn right) print in old style, but they may have been changed since the last time I used them or it just being due to the ticket I was getting.

I purchased some tickets this morning from a station and they were printed in the old format.

Normal off peak/super off peaks. Nothing elaborate.

All tickets I get from Stoke are in the old format. I appreciate this isn't particularly useful if you live in the Home Counties....

Just passed through Euston and needed to collect some tickets so I thought i’d do it there.

Old style ticket from the fast ticket machines for an Anytime Day Return from Stevenage to London Terminals. This was a fast ticket machine (which are the overwhelming majority of Virgin branded TVMs at Euston).

Never got to find out what the machines at Euston do I'm afraid, since I was able to get the ToDs from the ticket office at Woking station, which were printed using the old format. Thanks all for your help regardless.

Really enjoyed my experience at the ticket office - after explaining why I was there, the chap sat steely-eyed and silent for a good 3 or 4 minutes while my order involving 36 individual coupons was printed, plus a receipt measuring around a metre. I let myself have a periodic chuckle, but he wasn't having any of it. I thanked him for his time and wondered whether I'd massively inconvenienced him. I'll comfort myself with the thought that it wasn't my choice he disliked, but that he was due to go off shift one minute after I arrived. Intriguing!
