Can Avanti trains towards Euston be boarded if you have a valid ticket?

I ask because I've just been there and the announcement for the 2211 LNWR service included the warning that tickets marked Avanti West Coast only are not valid on the service. They obviously expect some passengers to have such tickets or they wouldn't say it, surely? So, say you had an off-peak ticket from Birmingham to Euston and decided to break your journey at Watford Junction. Could you board a later Avanti service?

If there are no AWC only tickets other than Advances, then that would render the question moot, I suppose.

A similar question arises for Stevenage, though, where Lumo trains have set-down only calls on their way to Kings Cross.

So you could hold a Lumo-only single from Newcastle to Kings Cross, break your journey at Stevenage and then be stuck.

The only 'AWC' only flexible tickets I can think of are from Milton Keynes to London.

They sell other "Avanti only" tickets, such as Edinburgh–London and Chester–Manchester ones, but I doubt the staff at Watford Junction are overwhelmed by people with any of those.

Edinburgh–London maybe (although the off peak return isn't hideously expensive), but Avanti don't offer advance tickets between Chester and Manchester.

My point was simply that there are a few "Avanti only" flexible tickets dotted around, not anything about the wider fare system.
