Hello all!
After years of trying to become a train driver I have finally got a face to face interview next week!
I am currently a Prison Officer and have completed 15 years in the service and looking for a change of career.
I will be doing research on the company before hand but has anyone got any tips that could help me?

Emphasise on safety as much as possible and try and find a few possible answers to questions you’re likely to be asked. Sometimes you have to second guess the interviewers so you don’t come unstuck on certain questions. It’ll be competency based so you’ll be asked to give examples of when you’ve have to do certain things. Be specific and not generic, and don’t waffle on. Research the STAR technique to alleviate the likelihood of waffle.

Very much this, in addition to trying to find some transferable skills you could mention that your previous role required that would be useful as a driver, such as the ability to follow strict procedures when transporting inmates around to ensure safety etc, as you will need to follow procedures as a driver....that sort of thing.

Yes, basically. The Prison Service is another disciplined, safety reliant environment so you should have an abundance of examples.
