Hi, this may sound a stupid question...

But I've searched Bury St Edmunds to Cambridge next Saturday for 2 adults and 2 children.

I put the above criteria in to Greater Anglia's booking page and on Southern's

Basically Greater Anglia, treat it as 2 adults and 2 children - £30.25

Whereas Southern treats it as 3 adults and 1 child and triggers Groupsave for £26.15

Basically is ok if a child effectively travels as an Adult and triggers the groupsave?

Yes, that is fine and is a common practice as it works out cheaper

Sounds like a similar situation with 'family' railcard - under 5s (normally free) can go for child rate on the railcard, triggering the discount.
