Campania ArteCard Question

Am considering a trip to the Naples area in 2027 for a combination of track bashing and non-railway "culture". I'm familiar with the Italia in Tour 3 and 5 day passes which cover Trenitalia regional routes, but a lot of local stuff in the Naples area isn't TI, of course. Come across the Campania ArteCard - which gives you free or reduced entry to various historical sites in Campania and also includes public transport. However, the website seems to contradict itself: on one page it clearly says "Choose campania>artecard with transport included to travel around with any line of public transport powered by UNICOCAMPANIA in Naples and Campania, at any time, for free." - however, when you look at closer detail of what's included, you come up against this:
The pass includes:

  • bus, trolleybus
  • metro line 1 Metro Art, line 2, line 6, funiculars, trams, Eav ttrains Circumflegrea Circumvesuviana and Cumana. The use of public transport is limited to reaching the places included in campania>artecard.
Anyone have any experience as to whether / how strictly the underlined sentence is enforced? My logical brain poses the question how (since they don't know where you're staying / eating dinner etc) - but my Italian is non-existent so I wouldn't be a position to argue my case.
OK , I suppose presenting the card together with a ticket from the "boundary station" to somewhere miles away would be a bit of a giveaway, as would reaching a terminus and immediately coming back again - but otherwise I can't see how it can be proved you're "misusing" the ticket just to bash track!

Thanks for sharing any experience.

I came across it when around Naples a couple of years ago. My impression from conflicting leaflets was that when launched it had included more transport than currently. As Artecard Campania includes Caserta and Paestum, well south of Salerno, I felt that publicity on the transport element was misleading.

Unico Campania, the regional passenger transport authority, has zonal ticketing but only for single tickets and monthly seasons. Day tickets only seem to exist for Naples, different price for ANM and all operators, Salerno and maybe other towns but not in between them.

I don't recall finding a zone map, but the Unico Campania web site will tell you the zones needed for a journey so you can see whether it is within urban Naples or not.
