My beloved () Camera has a cracked screen. I assume its unrepairable, but any help would be appreciated (is it worth taking it into a camera shop etc). its a Canon G9 to whom it helps. Thanks guys

Don't take it to a shop, they will just send it to a repairer and probably add a mark up for the privelege.

how bad is the cracked screen? does it mean you can't review images at all, or is it just irritating?. It might just be that that you've cracked a protctive screen that is quite easy and cheap to replace.

How and where was the screen cracked?
You should be able to claim this on your home insurance policy, on the all risks component (typically one single item up to £1000)
Obtain the quote then see if it is economic to repair (depending on the policy excess) or for submission for a full claim

About 2-4 cm across bottom of LCD screen. images can still be viewed and taken perfectly, just really annoying and irritating, gone fully through glass screen, just feel really bad because it was brought for me as a present, about 2 years ago, for about £300 Thanks for your help

If the LCD still works, then it sounds as though it's just the glass screen covering the LCD that's damaged. That might well be a simple and cheap repair.

Its fully cracked the glass screen cover, but the actual display is fine - what do you define as cheap, and where from ? THanks for the help

the repair centres lsited above

cheap was relative; all they have to replace is a glass screen, no electronics and it should take a short period of time. Although not Canon, as a guide, Sigma have a scale of repair charges; It starts at about £35. Hopefully a replacement screen cover would be of that order or less.

Thanks mate. I asked someone I know whose into cameras before and he said they were irreplaceable? Thanks anyhow

I'm not guaranteeing that it can be done, but there is no harm in asking one of the places listed above if it can be done.
