I’m confused as to whether trains will be running between Cambridge and Kings Cross tomorrow (Sunday).

GNs engineering work page tells me there is an amended service to Peterborough until 1030, and a closure between Hertford North and Stevenage. NRs engineering work page says the same. Nothing more is mentioned.

However, journey planners, RTT etc. are showing replacement buses between Stevenage and Letchworth all day.

To add to my confusion, I tried to investigate at Ely earlier - two GN engineering work posters, one up to the end of January, the other starts 12th February. Nothing inbetween! Deeply helpful...

Whatever the answer, this is truly woeful provision (or lack) of information.

Hmm, I’ve just re-read the GN engineering notice and it does mention buses between Stevenage and Letchworth *until 1030* (as opposed to all day, as in NREs planner, RTT etc.), under a heading about Peterborough services (!) and rather lost in the middle of a lot of information about other operators services.

I’m even more confused now :(

As a very rough guide:

There will be buses between Stevenage and Letchworth, Stevenage and Hertford and Stevenage and Biggleswade all day. GN trains will run two an hour between Stevenage and Kings Cross and one an hour between Peterborough and Kings Cross (from about 8am). There will also be one train an hour Letchworth to Cambridge and one train an hour Letchworth to Kings Lynn.

Again, the above is only a very rough guide.

Yes, having now got to the station, RTT etc. were correct. Buses all day.

So, why isn’t this listed - even now - on GNs engineering work pages??? What’s the point of having them at all if they miss out something as major as this?

(and as an aside - why was this thread moved? I’m not trip planning, I’m complaining about rubbish information).

Not today (or at least, not in the morning) - WAML was closed this morning too, first train off Cambridge was 1151.

Like we’re back to the bad old days when FCC and NX often closed both lines simutaneously. Eventually they got their act together and stopped doing that (except of course when the work was actually at Cambridge).

The day is now almost over and still nothing on GNs website or NREs engineering work page. Very rubbish indeed.
