Cambridge-Stone?

Having got such good advice on my last thread, here's my next rail travel conundrum.

I need to get to Stone from Cambridge on the 17th Dec and return on either late Saturday or early Sunday 18th? Seems that going via London is cheaper because I've found advance singles from London Euston-Stone for £5.30 and super-off peak returns for £15.50, but I'm confused by the restrictions - seems I can't travel home later than 5pm on Sat or earlier than 12pm on Sun?

There are trains at 1746 and 1846 on the Saturday from Euston on which the tickets are valid. Or at 1802 and 1902 from Stone to Euston - not clear where 'home' is

Sunday is just a reflection of the timetable and the lack of Sunday morning trains

Home is Cambridge, sorry. But a Cambridge-Stone return is stupidly expensive.

The London Midland website won't let me buy a £5.30 single after 17.02, and redspottedhanky doesn't list them.

The £5.30 fare is an advance single valid only on the booked train and has obviously sold out for later trains. £7.60 is available on the 1902 ex Stone on the Saturday

The £15.50 super off peak return is flexible but only valid on LM trains. It can be bought on the day

I'm looking them up on FGW using the slower routes option
